Directory contains daily global snow/ice maps and corresponding map images created with 
the 4km Global Multisensor Snow and Ice Mapping System (GMASI-Autosnow)

Time series extend back to mid-1987 and are routinely updated with the most recent data.
Daily maps are produced using synergy of snow retrievals from satellite optical observations of
AVHRR sensor onboard NOAA or METOP satellites and from passive microwave observations of SSMI/SMIIS
onboard DMSP satellites.
