The NOAA Ocean Color Coordinating Group (NOCCG) is a NOAA organization founded in 2011 by Dr. Paul DiGiacomo, Chief of SOCD at NOAA/NESDIS/STAR and was formally recognized by NESDIS in response to the National Research Council’s 2011 report, “Assessing the Requirements for Sustained Ocean Color Research and Operations.” The purpose of the NOCCG is to keep members up to date about developments for satellite ocean color. With membership that includes representatives from all the NOAA line offices, NOCCG holds monthly business meetings and hosts informational seminars, advertised widely both within and outside of NOAA, especially to the US ocean color community.
Science Seminars
About Science Seminars
NOCCG hosts STAR seminars, typically on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 3pm ET. These seminars feature informational presentations from members of the satellite ocean color community. Upcoming session information is available through the NOAA Science Seminar series online and via email notifications (subscribe by sending an e-mail to OneNOAAscienceseminars-request@list.woc.noaa.gov with the word 'subscribe' in the subject or body). The Google Calendar with all NOAA Science Seminars, including information on how to join the sessions, is available here. Please visit the STAR repository for materials from all past NOCCG seminars.
Monthly Meetings
About NOCCG Business Meetings
NOCCG holds business meetings approximately monthly, usually on the second Wednesday of each month at 2pm ET. These meetings are open to anyone interested in ocean color satellite data.
Running meeting notes can be found here; the list of the working group members and their bios can be found here (documents internal to NOAA).
